Drew Barrymore got her latest job by going grocery shopping.
Garnier has announced that the actress and daytime talk show host is the brand's new ambassador and creative director of its Whole Blends Sulfate-Free Remedy Collection.
The drugstore haircare brand chose Barrymore after discovering that she is a fan of the Whole Blends Legendary Olive Shampoo and Conditioner.
Barrymore picked up the Garnier's shampoo and conditioner on a routine grocery run last summer, and later shared her love for the products with her Instagram followers during her #BeautyJunkieWeek series. The star said the products remind her of her daughter Olive.
Garnier saw Barrymore's post, and the rest, as they say, is history.
In her new role as ambassador and creative director, Barrymore worked closely with Garnier to create her first-ever TV advertising spot for Whole Blends' new Sulfate Free Remedy Honey Treasures range. The star had a hand in the entire process, from concept development to writing the script.
"The products are amazing and good for your hair, but what's even better is that the brand is doing so many good things to give back and help make the planet greener, they have a total end-to-end approach to sustainability, Greener Beauty, and work with NGOs such as the Bee Conservancy, protecting 10 million bees, and that's really important to me," Barrymore says in a statement.
The Sulfate Free Remedy Honey Treasures range is made with fairly-traded and sustainably-sourced, honey, cocoa seed butter, argan oil, and shea butter. Aside from the caps and pumps, the packaging is made from 100% post-consumer recycled plastic.
Now, along with daytime TV, shampoo commercials just got more delightful.
