These 6 Hair-Volumizing Products Are the Trick to Jennifer Lopez's Glamorous Waves
With all due respect to the 2021 Venice Film Festival and its exciting lineup (Dune, Spencer, and Last Night in Soho, just to name a few), there's only really one spectacle that has made a lasting impression. It's Bennifer 2.0, baby, the greatest sequel Hollywood has ever produced. Nineteen years since its first run, Bennifer is even more enthralling this time around, full of cheeky throwbacks and surprise Instagram debuts that turn anything the two do together into can't-miss movie-like moments — including their full fledged display of public affection at the premiere of Ben Affleck's The Last Duel.
Smiling and kissing, J.Lo and Affleck gave the world one of the most instantly iconic red carpet arrivals of recent history. Yet, like everything else the multi-hyphenate blesses us with, J.Lo offered more than a simple head-turning moment in Venice. With the help of her go-to hairstylist Chris Appleton, Color Wow's global creative director, J.Lo also showed off a hair look for the ages while announcing the triumphant return of Bennifer. It was stunningly shiny, voluminous, and so effortlessly elegant that it's as gobsmacking as the Cartier diamonds that made up the rest of her look.
Even luckier for us, Appleton and Color Wow have revealed the steps required to create J.Lo's hair, and nearly everything he used is shoppable on Amazon right now.
First, Appleton prepped J.Lo's hair with Color Wow's Dream Coat Supernatural Spray, an anti-frizz keratin treatment that's activated by heat. It doesn't weigh hair down or leave it feeling sticky, and essentially smoothes strands into a sleek, silky shape perfect for styling. Appleton then applied some of Color Wow's new Xtra Large Bombshell Volumizer (also one of InStyle's Best Beauty Buys of 2021) on J.Lo's roots. The foamy mousse thickens fine strands and creates a ton of volume, something that reviewers say gives "fuller hair in minutes," without any stiffness or crispiness like other volumizers, and holds up super well in humid weather.
Appleton then blew J.Lo's hair out with Leandro Limited's hair dryer, brushed it, and curled her hair with BaBylissPro's Nano Titanium Spring 1.5-inch curling iron to create beachy yet natural-looking waves. To add shine, the hairstylist finished with Color Wow's Extra Mist-ical Shine Spray which leaves strands looking incredibly glossy. Reviewers say Color Wow's spray "produces great shine without any weight or oiliness added whatsoever," and judging by how almost satin-like J.Lo's hair looked at Venice, it certainly works.
