Britney Spears Gave Herself Bangs in Quarantine

Britney Spears is continuing to make the best out of quarantining by giving herself a new haircut.

In-between dancing in her living room, working out in what's left of her burnt-down home gym, releasing a new song, and celebrating the 20th anniversary of her iconic Oops!...I Did It Again album, the singer has found time to cut her own bangs.

Spears went with the wispy textured look, complete with a part down the middle. She showed off her new style in a series of bikini selfies on Instagram. "I did it I finally cut bangs !!!!!!" she captioned the post, along with several emojis.

And you know what? They look amazing.

Even though most hairstylists would caution against someone giving themselves a haircut, the singer has made no qualms about taking the risk. Last month, Spears opened up about her relationship with her bangs.

"I know I need bangs," she wrote in a lengthy Instagram caption. "I stopped having bangs in the 3rd grade and I remember like it was yesterday... it was such a big deal to expose my forehead... only pretty people in the south could do that, and I never felt pretty enough to pull it off."

The reason why Spears felt like she needed to have bangs is heartbreaking, but relatable for so many people who have experienced insecurities about themselves while growing up.

She continued, "I met with a modeling agency but I wasn’t pretty enough, so I went home and said, 'maybe I can be like the older girls and show my forehead,'" she wrote. "I did, and it looked sooooo bad but I thought I was gorgeous."

"People choose different ways to protect themselves," she added. "When I pull my bangs in front of my head I feel like I’m protected... almost like I’m in 3rd grade again."

Bangs are more than a haircut for Spears. They give her something to physically hide behind when she's feeling self-conscious. And we can all relate to her vulnerability.

The singer's celeb followers showed their support by flooding her comments with praise for her new look.

"How many comment are going to say “'queen of bangs'," wrote Spears's boyfriend Sam Asghari.

"Cute!!!" Vanessa Hudgens said.

With or without bangs, Spears is always iconic.
