Dry shampoo might seem like the obvious move when you want to put off washing your hair for one more day. That is, if you have light-colored hair. Every time I spray one on my chocolate brown hair, I end up having to shampoo it off ASAP.

There are plenty of dry shampoos that claim they don't leave any chalky residue, but most have left some sort of baby powder-like finish on my hair.

It turns out that it isn't dry shampoo that's the problem, but the fact that they're all chalky sprays. The solution: R+Co's Spiritualized Dry Shampoo Mist ($28; The game-changing formula is a transparent mist that uses micellar technology to cleanse the scalp of built-up dirt, oil, and product residue.

The mist is also infused with micro-nutrient silica, which strengthens hair, along with nourishing castor oil, which deep conditions the scalp and keeps hair soft, smooth, and full.

I use Spiritualized just as I would any other dry shampoo: I shake the bottle, spritz it all over with a focus on my roots, and let it soak in for around 30 seconds before massaging it through my hair. Even when I spray on a little too much, it's still invisible on my deep brown hair.

Finally, a dry shampoo that understands that those of us with dark hair are too lazy to wash our hair, too.
