Androgynous haircuts are the ultimate act of freedom of expression.

"A gender-neutral haircut breaks free from this [heteronormative] ideal and embraces hair as a tool to let yourself be your authentic self," says Sara-Olivia Granberger, a professional hairstylist and co-owner of Hairrari LA, a gender-neutral barbershop with locations in New York City and Los Angeles.

As far as what's considered an androgynous haircut, well, the truth is, any haircut can be androgynous as it's all about who's rocking the cut, says Granberger. "Overall, I think the most gender-neutral haircut is when one plays between the contrast of long and short," she says. "But you could rock a regular long haircut and make that gender-neutral by wearing a more masculine style or vice versa."

So, if you're looking to get a haircut that blurs the line between feminine and masculine, then we've got you covered. Ahead, keep scrolling for 14 androgynous haircuts that you'll want to take as inspo to your next hair appointment.
