Keep in mind that I'm being very bias, but having curly and coily hair is a blessing as far as I'm concerned. The volume, the versatility, the texture(s) — it truly doesn't get any better than that. But I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to take a break from my curls every once in a while.

So when the time comes to get a blowout, whether I'm doing it on my own or at the salon, I always make sure there's a heat protectant in the mix. Because the last thing I want is to enjoy my newly discovered inches for a week, then hop into the shower for a much needed wash day on Saturday morning, only to find out my curls are looking limp due to heat damage.

Mizani Heat Screen Hair Protectant Spray

$22; sephora.com

I will be a Mizani stan until the day I die, and this particular product only helped to solidify my stance. While the spray is lightweight, it still packs a punch in terms of heat protection, and leaves strands feeling well moisturized without weighing the hair down. On top of that, the rose water found in the formula adds shine and softness.
