Naomie Harris Shows Us How to Wear a Black-Tie Kimono
Welcome to "Who Won Fashion Today," where we award the boldest, best dressed person of the day. Winning fashion doesn't necessarily mean you're wearing the most expensive, trendiest, or prettiest dress. Rather, we reward risk-takers—those that stay true to their personal style and make us go, "Now THAT is a LEWK.”
It’s looking like this week may be thematic. Yesterday we awarded a very well dressed Lily-Rose Depp in her black and white Chanel pantsuit and today, we’re giving big ups to Naomie Harris, who wore Alexandre Vauthier at last night’s Decoding the Beauty of Time dinner in Geneva.
For background, if you find yourself near Switzerland and are a watch aficionado, run, don’t walk, to Geneva. This week marks SIHH, which stands for Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie, which stands for EXTRAVAGANT and CHIC.
Her Vauthier gown, from the fall 2016 Couture collection, has the perfect percentage of sex appeal and class. The high slit and plunging neckline, while super sexy, are balanced out by strong shoulders and an obi-style black belt. But the dress is only half of what makes Harris’s look. The other 50 percent comes to us courtesy of her watch and fine jewelry.
Harris wore one of IWC’s newest Da Vinci Automatic watches, which just debuted this week in Geneva—talk about being first to the party—and a Dauphin 18kt white gold and black rhodium ring with 1.25 carats of diamonds. Shine bright, Naomi. Shine bright.
Ever trying to decide what to wear to a black-tie event and wondering if you could appropriately play up your favorite kimono? No? Not a scenario you often find yourself in? Hm. Either way, I highly recommend finding something with an obi belt ASAP.
