Ulla Johnson has quietly been making luxe bohemian attire for 15 years, all the while amassing a devoted, borderline cult-like following of in-the-know editors, actresses, stylists and the like. On Thursday night, Johnson’s stylish pals—including Michelle Williams, Greta Gerwig, Sarah Paulson (pictured above), and Kate Young—came out donning her wares to celebrate her first boutique, located in downtown Manhattan.

To realize her dream of a lovely, sun-kissed retail space, Johnson called upon her coterie of talented female friends. Among them were architect Elizabeth Roberts, interior designer Alexis Brown, lighting designer Lindsey Adelman, and famed fashion florist Sarah Ryhanen from Saipua.
Following the rosé-filled opening, guests moseyed over to De Maria, a new restaurant (also run by women) that excels in creative fusion-y delights such as uni butter toast, dragon bowls, and lamb chops marinated in yogurt and feta. Amid the relaxed atmosphere, Paulson made a headpiece out of jewelry guru Irene Neuwirth’s multi-gem necklace, Gerwig showed off her new engagement ring from director Noah Baumbach, and Williams huddled with Johnson in the corner. From the dresses to the décor and the dinner, Johnson’s chill vibes resonated through and through.
