DVF wrap dresses are almost as iconic as the women who wear them.

Little black dresses are touted as wardrobe essentials, but well-behaved LBDs rarely make history. Instead, the dresses that we remember aren’t little or black at all. They’re so large, yellow, and fluffy they resemble a supersized omelette the size of several apartments like Rihanna’s Guo Pei Met Gala dress. Or they’re elegant and flexible enough to wrap around your neck like Bjork’s Oscars swan dress. Some of them are inspiring enough to birth Google Image Search. They make people fall in love with you, like with Kate Hudson’s silky, yellow dress in How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days, or fear you, like with Michelle Pfeiffer’s “I’m not your baby” backless slip in Scarface. Pantsuits are definitely it right now but dresses have power too. Especially when they’re as synonymous with iconic women as Diane Von Furstenberg’s wrap dress.

In 1974, Diane Von Furstenberg’s little wrap dress would change her life. She told InStyle, “Clothing empowers confidence, that’s what we’re selling, we sell confidence through the pieces we design. I still turn to our wrap dress. That little dress that changed my life and all that it stands for still holds true. It inspires confidence and femininity.” Michelle Obama, Sarah Jessica Parker, Amal Clooney, Kate Middleton, and every iconic woman who’s ever walked planet earth knows that, because they’ve worn one too.

With Furstenberg’s latest In Charge Initiative, the legendary designer works to help, “all women be the women they want to be.” For her Woman InCharge series that runs on the brand’s website, Furstenberg highlights everyday women who do extraordinary things, like Sara Blakely who launched Spanx and Yvette Noel-Schure who represents Beyoncé. Furstenberg feels that it’s “meaningful to share these stories with our consumers and bring the DVF woman to life.” And now, with the brand’s recent collaboration with The Outnet, where you can always find new designer finds at a steep discount, it’s never been easier to be the DVF woman regardless of if you’re a popstar, British royalty, CEO, a stay-at-home mom, or all of the above.

The latest DVF collection on The Outnet features wrap dresses, of course, but in bright-blue prints exclusive to the retailer, with prices as low as $255. There’s also white leather boots and striped crepe de chine shirts for under $200. Admittedly, Furstenburg’s favorite thing about seeing so many women wearing and buying her clothing is the different circumstance in which they wear them. “It’s the variety that excites me.” she says. “Michelle Obama picked the classic chain link wrap for her first Holiday card as the First Lady and I hold that as a very proud moment for me. Madonna and Demi Moore actually wore matching gold wrap dresses for an Oscars party they hosted a while back. That’s one of the best parts, is seeing the many stages and lives the wrap has had.”

Now with so many great pieces available on The Outnet, the next stage of the wrap dress is definitely in our closet. And who needs a little black dress when you can have a DVF classic instead?
