Photo: Shaun Melady It may be the dead of winter, but there's no time like the present to prepare for the warmer months ahead — or better yet, plan a tropical escape to recover from the holidays. Just recently, I packed my bags and jetted off to the stunning island of Kauai to rest, relax, and rejuvenate, as well as test some new swimwear that I had been eyeing online for several months now. Courtesy Shop now: $178; ta3swim.com You've likely seen the thumb-stopping ads featuring TA3 swimwear, the innovative new brand that promises to smooth, sculpt, and flatter your figure with its sleek, patent-pending one-piece styles. With a lace-up back design that snatches your waist, these understated, solid-colored suits look pretty average at first glance, but actually offer so much more once you tie one on. It goes without saying that the convincing social media posts piqued my interest immediately, but it wasn't until the brand offered to send me a suit of my own that I could determine if the $178 price tag was justified. With a TA3 Plungey suit in tow, I turned my Hawaiian vacation (which included fun-filled activities like sunbathing, swimming, hiking, and exploring the Makauwahi Cave Reserve) into the ultimate testing ground. I stayed at the picturesque Koloa Landing Resort, which has been awarded "The Best Pool in America" for consecutive years, and enjoyed the amenities to their fullest. The lavish tropical oasis offered several sparkling pools, water slides, romantic grottos, idyllic waterfalls, and more for me to enjoy, and I wasted no time lacing up my TA3 Plungey Swimsuit to make a splash as soon as I checked in. The overall fit of the mega-sculpting suit was perfect, and I found that the tighter you pull the ties, the tinier your waist appears, and the more lifted your girls look. As a midsize woman with an ample bust and a fuller waistline, this moderately sexy silhouette worked beautifully on my figure, and I felt like a million bucks in it. It didn't take long for me to notice that this was quite possibly the most universally flattering one-piece of all time, thanks to the ultra-matte compression fabric and aforementioned sturdy back ties that really hold you in. Hello, instant hourglass figure. Courtesy I felt so confident in my suit that I found countless ways to incorporate it into my wardrobe as a versatile foundation piece, too. I paired it with an elegant wrap skirt for a night out on the island, and wore it under a rashguard for extra support while driving an all-terrain vehicle during an epic waterfall tour with Kauai ATV. By the last day of vacation, I found myself so comfortable in this miracle worker that I abandoned my cover-up completely and strutted from my hotel room to the bar to the tranquility pool wearing nothing but the Plungey suit and a pair of sandals. If you know me, this is practically unheard of behavior. Courtesy Goes to show you that this glamorous swimsuit deserves a gold medal, and the confidence boost it provides is quite frankly, priceless. TA3 suits come in two torso lengths and a few different styles, including the Plungey, a more modest maillot style, or an edgier suit with mesh details and an alluring zip front detail, if that's more your speed.
