What’s something that Olivia Wilde, Liv Tyler, and InStyle's very own editor-in-chief Laura Brown have in common (other than, you know, being badass women)? They’ve all been spotted wearing the latest It-knit, St. Roche’s ‘Sissy’ sweater.

Inspired by a vintage piece purchased at London’s Portobello Market over two decades ago, the style holds special meaning for the brand’s creative director, Sue Stemp, who says it's a reminder of her time exploring the city. For those who weren't on that trip, however, it's the tiny details, like the subtle puff-sleeves, that make the sweater well worth the investment.

“The fitted waist and ribbed texture are reminiscent of an Edwardian fashion, which emphasizes the female form,” says Stemp, who founded St. Roche with her husband in 2014. “The effect is very flattering.”

Another big draw is that the sweater is made from super-soft alpaca yarn, a sustainably-sourced, animal-friendly material from Peru.

“It’s soft, long-lasting, and does not require toxic chemicals,” Stemp explains. “The alpacas are unharmed during the shearing process, and live in their native habitat in the Andes.” Plus, like everything St. Roche sells, the item is manufactured by a partner that is Fair Trade certified.

The Sissy sweater is currently on its fifth (fifth!) restock on st-roche.com, so clearly, it's a hot commodity. Although the purchase will set you back $380, we have no doubt this piece will get you through spring's cooler days, and will also come in handy once fall 2020 rolls around, when we're all searching for something cute, warm, and extremely cozy.
