If you ever commented on a brand’s Instagram demanding greater size inclusivity, you may have played a part in Sofía Vergara’s latest venture.

Today marks the day your denim drawer will be forever changed for the better — and that’s because Sofía Jeans by Sofía Vergara has just touched down at The Modern Family star and highest paid TV actress in the world just brought her golden touch to a new venture: Democratizing luxury jeans.

Vergara’s collection with, just shy of 100 pieces, is centered around high quality denim in a variety of styles — from skinny jeans to denim jackets to shorts — and everything is available in sizes 0-20 in jeans, and XS-XXXL in tops.

In an interview with InStyle, Vergara cited social media as one resource that influenced her latest collection.

“Nowadays, because of Instagram and Twitter, people are able to connect with their audiences and shoppers and hear what they want. Before, people didn’t have a voice, now they do and now we know that women that were bigger or women that were smaller were complaining that there wasn’t cute stuff for them. They could find basic stuff, but not more fun or fashionable pieces. It’s great that now we know that was missing, and now we can focus on giving them that.”

We spoke with Vergara ahead of this morning’s launch and learned more about how this collection came to be, and what makes it so special. Now we can honestly say we’re even more excited than we were before (which we didn’t think was possible).

Far from just being the face of the collection, Vergara was extremely active in developing the line. “They were letting me be super involved in the designs by letting me pick the colors, the materials, the models, everything,” she says. “I would try all the jeans, I would wear them for days, seeing if the materials would keep their shape for multiple days, what colors are in fashion, what the women want, what looks good on the body — I would put them in the washing machine to see what happens to them. It was a lot of fun.”

Vergara’s input also meant that every item in the collection would be under $40. “I wanted to reach a lot of people. I wanted to make a line that was affordable, and that a lot of women could reach and use,” she said, “We thought it was great that, at the end of the day, you can buy a whole outfit for $100.”

The TV star is a by-the-outfit shopper, herself, so she wanted to extend that ease of buying, by diversifying her denim line with a variety of ready-to-wear items. “When I go online I end up buying the whole outfit that the model has on. Like, ‘Oh those jeans look great with that top or those shoes,’ so I’m sure a lot of women are like that too. We created a small line of t-shirts and party tops so if you don’t know what to wear your jeans with, you can get whatever you see in the picture.”

She’s no stranger to pricey denim, but it’s her own, affordable denim line that Vergara can’t stop wearing. “I’m wearing the Sofía right now, I named it after me because it’s the jean that I always go to. It’s a skinny jean — I like it because it’s not too long, not too short, and it makes my butt look great.”

Shop the collection while it’s still fresh at and, while you’re at it, add some of Vergara’s other Walmart faves to your cart, too.

“I buy everything and anything [from], I think socks, pajamas, all of the good stuff that you need every day, that you don’t want to spend a million dollars on, that you’re going to use all year round.”
