Fashion Sarah Jessica Parker Is Trying to Bring Back This $18 Bag Trend From 2019 And it’s working. Photo: James Devaney/Getty Images Sarah Jessica Parker can sell any trend, even the most impractical ones that we have sworn to leave behind us. Earlier this week, that unexpected, unfathomable trend was gray jeans. And now, Parker is trying to bring back the least practical bag trend we've ever seen, micro bags. Micro bags, also known as mini bags — or the what-can-you-even-fit-in-there? bags — were huge in 2019. They were everywhere, mostly thanks to Jacquemus's Le Petit Chiquito, which is still rarely ever in stock. The bag stole the heart of the internet, inspired many a think piece on what was the purpose of a bag that could barely contain an IPhone. But the appeal was obvious: small, tiny, little bags are extremely cute. They're also a true accessory — barely functionable, but perfect for adding a much needed accent to any look. Courtesy Shop now: $275; nordstrom.com Obviously, the pandemic took a toll on micro bags, as they faded into obscurity. People needed real big bags, the kind Kelly Ripa wears, to fit all of their face masks, and bottles of hand sanitizer. For months, and even still, leaving the house felt like an expedition. And micro bags just weren't up for the task. But as things start to look a little bit better, Parker seems determined to bring the style back, as she was spotted wearing a green half-moon shaped green micro bag on the set of And Just Like That. Obviously, Carrie Bradshaw would be a proponent for the ridiculous trend and obviously, they both have us sold on its imminent return. Unlike bigger bags, micro bags tend to cost hundreds less because of their small size. Amazon also has a couple dupes for popular styles at just $18, if you don't want to fully invest on a pretty impractical bag. But if you want to go all in, Bottega's take on the style costs far less than any other bag the luxury house makes. Courtesy Shop now: $18; amazon.com At the end of the day, micro bags really do feel apt. We have been and frankly, still are, carrying the weight of the world on our shoulders. So why carry the weight of the world in our bags, too? Micro bags are as carefree as we wish we could be and especially now, it feels nice to just throw a Tic Tac in a bag and call it a day. Okay — maybe not really — but if Parker says it's on trend, we're going with it. Shop the best mini bags available now, below.
