Take a Peek at the Mood Boards Behind Next Season’s Biggest Trends
The perfectly tailored pant, the dress that effortlessly drapes... We're always inspired by the new clothes that we see on the runway. But what about the designers? What inspires them to create those pieces that make our hairs on the back of our necks stand up?
Sometime it starts with a vintage photo of an iconic model. Other times, it's an abstract work of art that evokes an emotion that can only be explained through the execution of a breathtaking collection. Here, we take a look at the inspiration behind this season's newest collections.

“This season, I’m inspired by the elderly woman — strong and confident, no matter how old she is. My presentation, “Specimen 19”, will allow guests to explore the meaning of growing older through the collection and the museum-inspired space at The High Line Hotel.”
"Referencing the bold sensuality in Jean-Paul Goude’s iconic depiction of Grace Jones, the Cushnie Spring/Summer 2019 Collection exudes feminine power."
"TT in the wild."
"Not for reproduction."
“The color palette of this season reflects the scenic landscapes and architecture of Bali.”
“The collection really celebrates a shifting season and the excitement of introducing new pieces that embrace warmer weather. The fabrics of this collection are still as transitional as ever, but the prints are fresh and new. Each piece focuses on the springtime ritual of peeling back the layers of winter and replacing them with light alternatives in fun prints like tie dye or leopard. I love mixing textures, so a lot of the pieces combine a sexy cut or silhouette with a cozy fabric. The oversized cardigan and knit skirts really set the tone.”
"Freedom is being you without anyone's permission."
"The new dimension."

"We’re looking to celebrate and tell the story of American design under our new design direction and evolution from BALDWIN to BLDWN. Starting with Spring 2019, each season will draw its inspiration from the attitudes and driving forces behind modern American art and design. This will be our first NYFW presentation as BLDWN and first step towards building a modern American fashion house.”
"The Clara sandal is a new style that reinterprets my signature wave going down the curves of the foot in a more subtle way. It is a timeless style that has all the qualities of a classic red carpet shoe but with fun and unusual details that look like petals, we have in 4 colors this season in this emerald satin, silver and gold, black of course and a pastel lilac nappa."
