If you had been at the InStyle office on Oscars night, you would have probably heard a whole lot of gasping, mixed with a decent amount of oohs and ahhs. Between all the shiny gowns, pops of color, and various statement-making jewels that graced the red carpet, we were in awe. The stars did not come to play when it came to this red carpet showing, and it seemed like with each new arrival, the outfits got even more glamorous and over-the-top.

However, there were still a handful of looks that stood out from the crowd — ones that will no doubt stay in our mind for weeks, possibly even years to come. With so many different tastes on our team (some folks are drawn to minimal, while others love glitz and glam), we asked a few members to weigh in on who they would crown the best dressed. Here are our top seven picks, in no particular order.

"Some might think this dress is a lot, with its sparkle, ruffles, and sweet bow embellishment. But in my mind, the Oscars is an invitation to go big or go home, and I'm so glad that Sandra didn't hold back. This look is straight-up iconic in my book, and almost makes me sad that awards season is over (almost)." — Samantha Sutton, Fashion Editor

Brie Larson

"I love that her look had all the elements of Oscars glamour but still felt very cool. It was unpretentious while still being absolutely breathtaking." — Alyssa Hardy, Senior News Editor

"This soft pink color looked absolutely stunning against her brown skin." — Kayla Greaves, Senior Beauty Editor

"A subtle side boob, and a dress that reminds me of lasagna noodles but gorgeous, is where I want fashion to be in 2020." — Laura Norkin, Deputy Editor

Camila Morrone

"She's wearing a wedding dress?! I want it! That's something new, and definitely stands out from the rest of the dresses on the red carpet. Also, maybe it's a sign or a message to her boyfriend, Leonardo DiCaprio?" — Jackie Frere; Social Media Editor

"This look is timeless yet still sexy and innovative. The SLIT, the TRAIN, the JEWELS!" — Isabel Jones, Associate News Writer
