It’s safe to say that a moto-style leather jacket is a staple piece in any modern capsule wardrobe. Not only can you count on it to get you through awkward seasonal transitions without sacrificing style, it's the easiest way to add a little edge to any outfit. The material balances out ultra-feminine details and has a way of upgrading your mood just by slipping it on. So while the staying power of the classic is undeniably always and forever, there’s a new take on the essential being endorsed by A-listers from SoHo to L.A.: the leather blazer.

The ‘90s are back in a big way, and the leather blazer trend couldn’t make a stronger case. Kourtney Kardashian, Hailey Bieber, Sofia Richie, and Kaia Gerber are all among the Hollywood cool girls who’ve given the style that’s simultaneously reminiscent of the Matrix and some of the best SATC fashion archives their personal stamp of approval.

After seeing the many ways this throwback style just works, it’s easy to see why its resurgence has been welcomed with open arms. A leather blazer looks just as great with vintage jeans as with the professional route, with sleek trousers. It looks cool without pants! And if you’re Sofia Richie, it means taking the blazer and bra trend to a whole other level: losing the bra. Like its classic moto-style predecessor, a leather blazer is unexpectedly versatile.

If you’re a fan of the leather-blazer look but can’t bid farewell to longer outerwear just yet (it’s cold out there, we get it), it’s worth noting Bella Hadid and Emily Ratajkowski have embraced the trend in the form of a trench coat silhouette, instead. And while you can certainly go the investment piece route and splurge on a leather blazer or trench, you can also try out the style without as much commitment with one of the many affordable options available.
