Katie Holmes is ready for spring. At least that’s the message we’re getting from her latest off-duty look. The bonafide fashion influencer has officially traded in her cozy cashmere cardigan and bralette for a lightweight, spring-perfect ensemble you’ll live in as we enter bare-leg season.

Don’t worry though: The cardigan queen — yes, that’s what we’re officially calling her around the office — is still keeping the buttoned staple in her rotation, only she’s swapped it for a lightweight version that’s more suitable for spring. The piece in her latest look that’s causing all the stir this time around, though, isn’t the aforementioned cardi (which she wore partially buttoned as a shirt), but rather that pleated leather Prada skirt that’s buttery-brown perfection.

Holmes has wardrobe favorites, like her classic blue Reformation jeans and the striped Khaite sweater she wore on repeat all winter. But now that spring is nearing, the star is pulling out her warm-weather staples, which include pleated midi skirts of all sorts that might conjure up thoughts of your grandma’s closet.

This chocolate-y Prada leather moment was the kickoff to Holmes’s ensuing pleated-skirt streak — one we can’t wait to follow and are definitely inspired to take part in, too. The actor has been wearing pleated skirts for years, and that Prada number is one she’s sported plenty in the past. But that’s not the only iteration she has stocked in her closet. She also owns a satin Fendi one that’s about as timeless as it gets and a utility-inspired cotton number with cool side buttons.

Holmes is here to make you rethink your opinion on pleated skirts. If you’ve written off the trend because you feel it reads old and outdated (like tweed), think again: Expertly-folded pleats add movement and texture that’ll make any outfit an instant winner.
