And the one I'm about to reveal? Everyone needs to know this. On this week's edition of "My Favorite Secret Fashion Trick," we'll be studying a recent Jennifer Lopez outfit that's just 🔥. If you've followed my writing for a while now, you know comfort is a priority to me, but I don't want to look like comfort in the traditional sense. Secret comfort is my wheelhouse. I also like anything that lifts, boosts, and cinches, which is why I'm so obsessed with my Booty Boost leggings from Spanx that give my butt an instant lift and my ruched shirts that create the illusion of a snatched waist, the latter of which J.Lo reminded me I need to wear more often. Lopez's ruched bodysuit, which has a deep V-neck and long sleeves, is from Et Ochs. It's shirred along the front, neckline, and arms, a flattering design element that makes everything appear more cinched, which leads me to my whole point: The ruched (or shirred) detail acts as a camouflage and draws everything inward. It snatches in the waist and conceals the tummy area. Basically, ruched tops act like shapewear in that they compress and shape, but look 10-times more fashionable. Courtesy Shop now: $98; nordstrom.com I love my ruched tops, like this one from Reformation, because it pulls everything inward — and depending on the effect I want, from a subtle snatch to a fully waist-cinching moment, I can pick my preferred level of ruche. Consider this an example of the former and this the latter. Worth mentioning: Though a ruched top can act like shapewear, it doesn't feel like it. As in, when I wear my shirred shirts, I'm not as confined or uncomfortable as when I'm wearing something like a waist trainer pr a tummy-control tank top. Ready to snatch your waist the Lopez way?
