Last January, which feels like many many years ago, Jennifer Lopez wore white skinny jeans. People got worked up about it because it was months after Labor Day, and everyone knows that, according to some archaic rule, we aren't supposed to wear white until summer.

These days, Lopez has been following the fashion rule she loves to break by wearing all-white outfits during the correct season on dates with Ben Affleck. Some tabloids might want to look too deeply into the significance of that, but we're just going to go ahead and say she looks great. The style is perfect for the extreme heat a lot of the country has been seeing recently because it doesn't stick to your body like other more form-fitting summer staples. And we're all for a piece of clothing we don't have to peel off our bodies.

Carpenter pants or work pants, as they're officially called, are not only celeb-approved and clearly trending, but also pretty affordable. Of all the celebrity trends of the summer, these dad-esque jeans might just take the cake for most likely to be bought in bulk. For a supermodel off-duty look, just pair them them with a crop top, like Hadid. To challenge society's perception of fashion rules, buy a white pair á la Lopez and continue wearing them long after September 6, 2021.
