But Hailee Steinfeld isn't your average teen. After her breakout role and subsequent Oscar nom for 2010's True Grit, Steinfeld followed up her big screen debut with turns in cult classics like Romeo & Juliet and Pitch Perfect 2. Then this summer, she seamlessly transitioned into pop star territory with her first album, Haiz, gifting us with the delightful ear worm that is "Love Myself." And did we mention she's also a founding member of Taylor Swift's squad? Next up, she's turning back the clock only slightly to portray a hoodie-wearing high school student in the coming-of-age dramedy, TheEdge of Seventeen. While her character struggles with the cringeworthy ups and downs of adolescence in the film, in real life, it seems that Steinfeld somehow managed to skip over all of those awkward years—at least in the style department. And once inside? Madonna's "Like a Prayer" got her out on the dance floor. 06 of 10 Prabal Gurung, 2014 Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic It took a little over a month for Prabal Gurung to create the graphic silk ball gown Steinfeld wore to the Met Gala, and the actress was involved from the first sketch to the final fitting. "She is a longtime friend, so we work really well together," says the designer. 07 of 10 Sally LaPointe, 2015 Michael Tullberg/Getty "I love unexpected combinations on the red carpet," says Sally LaPointe, who designed this sequined sapphire dress with an airy organza skirt that Steinfeld chose for the Streamy Awards. "Hailee is the perfect mix of classic and bold." 08 of 10 Prada, 2015 Neilson Barnard/Getty The actress opted for smart Prada separates at the label's Iconoclasts show.
