While there might be some May flowers on the other side of those April showers, we first have to endure the downpour — preferably with a sense of style still intact. The answer to my soaked prayers was recently found in an Everlane raincoat, a brand approved time and again by the likes of Meghan Markle and Katie Holmes. The Everlane ReNew Anorak was sent to me just a day before New York City experienced a bout of rain and, as a dog mom, it wasn't weather that I could avoid. I figured it was the perfect afternoon to don my new raincoat and see what all the fuss was about (it has dozens of five-star ratings). After spending about 30 minutes outside watching my pup jump over puddles, I realized I was a happy combination of warm and dry. Courtesy Shop now: $118; everlane.com I'm not someone who loves oversized styling, but the slightly boxy frame of this coat is far from baggy- or disheveled-looking. Since it was a colder day, I appreciated that I had room under the coat to wear a hoodie over a long-sleeve shirt; Everlane's sizing details suggest choosing one size down for a more fitted option, but I'm glad my coat is my regular size for the sake of layering. I didn't feel like my layers were suffocating, and that's also thanks to the coat's lack of a lining that keeps it feeling light as a feather — which will come in handy later this season when temperatures (finally) start to rise. Plus, there's a built-in drawstring around the waist, just in case I felt like cinching it in. Courtesy Shop now: $118; everlane.com The coat comes in four colors and sizes XXS to XL. I received mine in the bay leaf color — it's a lovely, spring-y green that will add a pop of color to my very black New York City wardrobe, while existing as a neutral tone that will pair easily with almost anything. I also appreciate that the coat is sustainably made entirely out of recycled materials. Shoppers agree that the coat is stylish and the fit is flattering on a number of shapes. One reviewer who purchased the coat in a size L simply said, "this coat is fabulous," while another who selected an XXS said that the material was a bit "thinner than expected" but that "the design and fit more than make up for it." And a third shopper who went with a M added, the coat "fits and feels great!" Invest in a layering piece for spring showers and order the Everlane ReNew Anorak today.
