Reese Witherspoon seems to be on a mission to consistently bring us joy. She both acts in and produces our favorite TV shows and movies, gives us easy-to-devour book recommendations, and works to enhance our closet — even if we're on a budget. The Draper James founder is bringing her clothing line to Kohl's through an exclusive capsule collection, Draper James RSVP. Shoppers will be able to choose from a selection of breezy dresses, cropped pants, and light jackets, with every piece priced under $100.

"Everybody wants to have something new in their closet, but not everybody has the ability to spend a lot," Witherspoon tells InStyle over the phone. "My mother was a teacher and a nurse, and I really wanted to design beautiful, wearable clothing that can go from the classroom to a garden party, but doesn't break the bank."

Kohl's, she adds, has made some impressive, forward-thinking moves over the past few years — including its partnerships with Sephora and Amazon — which made the store the perfect place to carry these clothes.

"When they said, 'We really see this as a part of our business that's missing — beautiful occasion-wear at a price point that feels affordable, in a range of sizes that really feel accessible,' we were really excited to partner," Witherspoon says. Draper James RSVP ranges from XS to XXL and $44 to $98.

When it came to thinking up a theme for this Kohl's collection, Witherspoon opted for items one might wear to a spring garden party. Working closely with Draper James' Head of Design, Kathryn Sukey, Witherspoon's main goal was "classic silhouettes that are flattering for lots of different body types."

"I think people have been stuck in the house and are really looking for lots of color. Effortless, breezy clothes that just really feel like a celebration of getting back together and being in-person with people again," Witherspoon tell us.

While we're ready to stock up on the skirts and blazers, we're especially excited for the bright, floral-printed, ruffled, and puff-sleeved dresses, which feel right in line with some of today's top trends, including cottagecore and regencycore. Witherspoon totally feels that, too.

"We are huge fans of Bridgerton over here, and we're also working on a show for Hello Sunshine about cottagecore," she reveals. "So those are just two things that were probably already on our minds, and we were able to design into those ideas."

Those who often turn to the actress, producer, and designer for outfit inspiration will also notice all the pieces that represent her signature style — including denim jackets.

"Oh, I definitely love denim," she says. "It's a classic layering piece. It always looks good when you layer it over something that's a little more formal, like a dress with lots of flowers. It gives you that kind of high-low feeling and just sort of modernizes everything."

Witherspoon is also a fan of all the cropped, printed capri pants.

"I love anything that has a cute little cut at the ankle and that you can wear with a fun sandal. It makes me feel like spring is here."

Of course, in many parts of the country spring weather hasn't quite arrived yet (at least not consistently), but not to worry. You'll also be able to find transitional pieces from Draper James RSVP.

"There's something really optimistic about having eyelet blouses and floral dresses that, even if you're wearing your overcoat over them, you have this feeling of 'spring is on the way,'" says Witherspoon.

She also points us in the direction of cardigans, which she says will ensure you're "ready for anything" when it comes to in-between temperatures.

"I think cardigans are here to stay," she adds. "They're classic, and we try to add feminine elements to them so that they feel like they dress up any outfit."
