A few years back, we noticed this fashion trend becoming a go-to for celebrities and influencers, with many reaching for one outfit combo in particular: a sweatshirt, plaid skirts, long socks, and sneakers. Since then, it's risen in popularity and slowly evolved, and the best part is, with a few key staples, it's easy to nail the look. Thankfully, there is no shortage of outfit ideas, especially since preppy fashion is cyclical and enters the rotation every few years. For instance, Princess Diana herself loved a good schoolcore look, stepping out in a variety of graphic sweatshirts, loafers, and tennis skirts. These days, celebrities like Hailey Bieber and Kendall Jenner rock cropped cardigans and have their traded jeans for khakis. Even Taylor Swift appeared in a Variety shoot wearing an oversized sweater and plaid skirt. Taylor Swift's Commitment to Cat Fashion Remains Unmatched Major brands are also on board with the trend — Thom Browne, Chopova Lowena, Miu Miu, etc. — and between HBO Max's Gossip Girl and movies like Do Revenge, there may be no better time to give schoolcore a try.
