The only thing more convenient than a good pair of leggings or sweatpants are quality biker shorts. They’re the iPhone of athleisure, the Zoom of loungewear, the Tesla of bottoms… you get the point. But there are a few issues that tend to come with these bottoms. First, some can create a truly infamous camel toe. Second, some can be more see-through than a pair of fishnet tights. Third, some can cost more than a grocery bill — and if you think I’m going to pay $100 for a pair of stretchy shorts, you are seriously disturbed.

With these reasons in mind, I became a bit of a biker shorts stickler. I tried on a bunch of different pairs from different brands until I found a pair that actually passed my test. They look great, feel amazing, and have a cost just right for my shopping budget. Of course, I’m talking about Old Navy’s Compression Bermuda Shorts (which just so happen to be on sale right now).

The biker shorts come in a bunch of different colors and patterns, all in sizes XS to XXL. Personally, I love how these shorts are comfortable and lifting, without making me feel like I’m pulling a Pooh Bear. They’re stretchy but still hold in my tummy in a way that makes me feel confident enough to pair the bottoms with cropped tees and sweatshirts. Plus, they don’t give any camel-toe effect, which is an underrated but highly important quality, in my opinion.

Because most of Old Navy’s biker shorts retail for $20 and under, I’ve gone back again and again to get new pairs and new colors. I have the classic black, a bold orange, and a cool gray that I wear the heck out of while working from home. Before social distancing started, I’d wear them to yoga and cycling too. They’re durable enough to last a lot of use. I’ve had one pair for more than a year and there’s no pilling of fabric or fading of color. And the shorts have remained opaque — an X-ray would have trouble seeing through these things.

I love how dependable these biker shorts have become. They’re my go-to for adding an edge of style to any casual look, and they’re the perfect WFH buy. Few things in my closet make me feel as good as these biker shorts, which I come back to again and again. Below, check out some of my favorite styles on sale now:
