Bring on the dad pants.

Leave it to Levi's to make a compelling case to copy your dad's outfit.

The denim brand, which has brought us cult-favorite styles like the 501 and aptly named (and super flattering) Wedgie, is out to prove that khakis — a staple of middle school and Midtown uniforms alike — are cool. It recently launched its first-ever chinos collection, Levi's XX Chino, celebrating with a star-studded event at the Levi's Haus Miami, where singer and campaign star Khalid also performed.

With contemporary fits and various color options, such as dusty pink and jade blue, the XX Chino is repositioning khakis as the trendy pair of pants you can wear anywhere.

"They look awesome and are so comfortable to hang out in," Khalid said via Levi's press release. His dynamic campaign — which was shot by his close friend and photographer Ro.Lexx — has us convinced. The photos show the six-time Grammy-nominee posing and laughing in his khakis, looking sharp when they're styled with a floral button-down, then laid-back when the pants are worn with a long-sleeved tee.

"We are so thrilled to partner with Khalid on the launch of Levi's XX Chino," said Jennifer Sey, Levi Strauss & Co's Chief Marketing Officer Global Brands. "He's the perfect embodiment of the Levi's spirit — his authenticity, personal style, and the way he uses his voice for good. It's been an honor and a joy to bring this campaign to life with such an enthusiastic partner. We hope our fans like it as much as we do."

Khalid is far from the only celebrity who has embraced chinos. Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid, and Kanye West have all been spotted swapping out jeans for the versatile style. Last year, Rihanna debuted her LVMH-backed luxury line, FENTY, in head-to-toe utilitarian khaki, while Prada's Spring 2020 menswear campaign features many shades of beige. From the red carpet to the real world, it's clear that these pants are back in a big way. So, maybe it's time to join the party.

While the Levi's XX Chino collection is technically considered menswear, that definitely won't stop us from stocking up. The Slim Taper and Straight Cropped styles (both $80) will no doubt look ultra-fresh with a belted jacket and square-toed boots. And, of course, Levi's does make the perfect pair of khakis for women, too. Despite their name, the wide-legged Dad Chino Pants ($98) aren't quite like the ones we'd picture our fathers wearing on a business trip. A crop top and a chunky pair of sneakers would turn these babies into the perfect choice for a casual weekend outing.
