The One "Awareness" Tee to Buy This Month
Earlier this month, we announced that Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Wes Gordon (creative director of Carolina Herrera) teamed up with Saks Fifth Avenue to design this year's Key to the Cure shirt. And now, the do-gooder tees are finally available for purchase.
The $35 limited-edition top features three poppy flowers printed across the front. A stem includes the words, "We are fighters & we are fighting for a cure." But from afar it just looks like the next great tee to pop under your blazer this fall. And here's what makes it an even better choice: All of the proceeds will be donated directly to the AiRS (Alliance in Reconstructive Surgery) Foundation. As in, 100%.
"I'm absolutely thrilled that the AiRS Foundation is the beneficiary of the sales of the limited-edition Key to the Cure T-shirt," Louis-Dreyfus explained in a press release. The AiRS foundation works closely with physicians and health care centers to help make reconstruction surgery post-mastectomy an affordable option for breast cancer survivors, so it's an option anyone can choose rather than just a privileged few.
“There are plenty of women who decide not to get reconstruction, which is fine,” Louis-Dreyfus told InStyle in our October issue. “But if you want it and can’t afford it, that’s heartbreaking to me." A cancer survivor herself, it's no wonder she decided to do something about that imbalance — and now you can, too.
