Halle Berry's Best Red Carpet Looks
Halle Berry's one to watch—on and off the screen. Her red carpet appearances never fall short of amazing and are always buzzed-about. Whether she's dressed in ethereal gowns or moody mini dresses, Berry consistently proves that she can pull anything off.
It was hard to narrow down our top 10 favorite looks Berry has worn, but there were some so memorable that our slots filled up quickly. What first came to mind was the 007-inspired Atelier Versace dress she wore to present the James Bond tribute at the Oscars in 2013. "I wanted to go as a Bond Girl, and this is what Donatella came up with," said Berry of the custom creation. Another shiny number that made our list was the silver Dolce & Gabbana mini dress she wore in 2012. Berry also proved that her softer, more angelic side is just as lovable when she wore a crystal-encrusted tulle and organza Marchesa dress. We then fell in love with the lava-print Monique Lhuillier gown that she wore to the BET Honors event in 2013—so much so that it landed No. 1 on our list.
Vera Wang said it best: “Halle has a keen eye and always knows what works for her.” Click through the gallery to see the rest of Halle Berry's best red carpet looks ever—they don't disappoint.
In Halston Heritage, 2015
Berry channeled ‘70s elegance in a sleeveless light blue Halston Heritage dress that showcased her no-frills approach to red carpet dressing. The star complimented her look with black lace up sandals and one black statement bangle across her forearm.
In Versace, 2014
“I pulled this gown from the Versace archive, and we waited a year for her to wear it to the Fame and Philanthropy post-Oscar party,” says her stylist about the look, which was from Gianni Versace’s final collection, in 1997. “The jersey-and-leather design fit like a glove."
In Monique Lhuillier, 2013
In Atelier Versace, 2013
To present the James Bond tribute at the Oscars, the Die Another Day star was looking to get back to her 007 roots. “I wanted to go as a Bond Girl, and this is what Donatella came up with,” said Berry of the beaded custom Atelier Versace that arrived from Milan only the night before.
In Dolce & Gabbana, 2012
In Dolce & Gabbana, 2012
The Ohio native has graced countless red carpets since her 1989 Living Dolls debut, so what does she do with all those outfits? “I put them in storage in the Valley,” she told us. This sexy silk Dolce amp Gabbana stunner was hers to keep.
In Hervé Léger by Max Azria, 2012
The macrame detailing, inspired by art nouveau architecture, “accentuates her shoulders and toned body,” says Lubov Azria of this Herve Leger by Max Azria bandage dress. “Halle’s beauty radiates from the inside out."
In Roland Mouret, 2012
“It’s classic Roland Mouret,” says Jackson of Berry’s streamlined shift. The 5-foot-6-inch star’s pointy Jimmy Choo heels provide the needed lift for a midcalf length.
In Marchesa, 2011
“We worked with Halle to create a dress that was light and feminine,” says Marchesa’s Georgina Chapman of the crystal-encrusted design featuring organza and tulle ruffles. Over $1 million of Neil Lane jewelry complemented her look as she presented a tribute to the late Lena Horne at the Academy Awards.
In Elie Saab Haute Couture, 2011
This vibrant Elie Saab Haute Couture number, with delicate inlays of lace, pops against her glowing complexion. Are there any shades she can’t wear? “You’ll probably never see Halle in yellow or green,” says Jackson.
In Vera Wang, 2010
Intricate draping gives this jersey Vera Wang dress a sculpted look. Berry went shimmery with her extras—Irit Design earrings, a vintage Judith Leiber clutch, and Gianvito Rossi sandals. Says Wang, “Halle has a keen eye and always knows what works for her.”
