And now we want to try it, too.

For years, our number one summer fashion rule has been simple: If it's easy and effortless to wear, we're definitely into it. Fussing with a bunch of straps or constricting designs — especially in 2020, when we're spending a ton of time at home — is the last thing we want in 90-degree heat. So, when celebrities started stepping out in eerily similar mumu maxi dresses? We were immediately on board, and knew we needed to shop the trend for ourselves.

In the past month, both Sarah Jessica Parker and Kelly Rowland have worn this blanket-like design in black (paired with their masks, of course) while Angelina Jolie has proven to be a fan of both navy and cream options. Whether you're out running errands or chilling on your couch, it's a great one-and-done outfit choice. At the same time, with some heels and a few key accessories, it would be easy to make this loose, breezy dress feel fancy.

No matter how you choose to style the mumu maxi, it deserves a spot in your wardrobe. Come fall, you can even layer it under a blazer or over a turtleneck and add some boots. It doesn't get easier than that.
