I'm Going Braless Thanks to These Clever Clothing Brands That Feature Built-in Support
As a fashion editor, I've made it my mission to discover the latest and greatest finds that will simplify, improve, or inspire the way you're getting dressed every day. This time, I'm bringing you a genius styling hack that will hopefully excite you the way it did me, because it involves (wait for it) going braless while boosting your confidence in one fell swoop. Hear me out.
If you're anything like me, you love the look of trendy, skin-baring styles, but hate the bulk and discomfort of complicated or ill-fitting bras (strapless styles, I'm looking at you) that they require. I'm a solid D cup, so the thought of going braless in public was simply out of the question until I happened upon a few innovative fashion brands that sent me samples of their goods so I could see it for myself.
Over the last few months, I tested different styles from Frankly Apparel, She Bird Shop, and JJ Winks, and am so impressed with the fit, functionality, and figure-flattering designs from each that I had to spread the good word. Perhaps one silver lining of the pandemic is that the concept of comfortable dressing has become a priority to us all, and these three female-founded brands just answered our fashion prayers.
I have a few favorites from each brand, but quite honestly, there's nothing not to like at She Bird Shop. Stock up on comfortable tops with built-in stretchy, supportive bras like this pretty halter tank or the brand's signature breezy tanks and tees that can be worn on their own or layered under jackets and blazers. Best of all, She Bird Shop has plenty of appealing colors in several styles, and gives you a smooth (i.e. say goodbye to back fat) silhouette from all angles.
JJ Winks is best known for its comfy sleepwear and loungewear with built-in support (what the brand has dubbed as its signature Light Hug®), but this off-the-shoulder slouchy sweater is a hidden gem that deserves some recognition, too. The gorgeous open neckline allows your décolleté to be on display sans the nuisance of visible bra straps, so you can effortlessly rock this pullover at home or out and about any time you want.

And finally, Frankly Apparel won my heart with its trendier designs including a ribbed, body-skimming dress and a sexy bodysuit that features a plunging neckline and elegant sheer sleeves. This cool new brand accommodates cup sizes from an A to G and uses ethically sourced fabrics to create clothing that encourages you to go braless. Hallelujah.
