Photo: Courtesy Just when you thought Birkenstocks had caused enough internet confusion — if the shoes are so "ugly," why does every celebrity seem to own them? — the brand launched a new polarizing style for us to argue over. The Boston Big Buckle Shearling Clog is part clog, part slipper, and (I'm predicting) the cold-weather style A-listers will reach for most this season. Sorry, Uggs. Celebrities are just like us: They can't resist a good pair of cozy shoes. Lucy Hale, Reese Witherspoon, and Gwyneth Paltrow — Goop calls them "the most comfortable, quirky-yet-versatile, sensible-yet-sexy, trend-confounding shoes in existence" — are just a few of the famous folks spotted in Birkenstocks over the years. If you've yet to own a pair, the Boston Big Buckle Shearling Clog is a great place to start. Courtesy Shop now: $190, nordstrom.com The shearling style is an updated take on the famous Boston Clog, which features a soft footbed and cozy suede upper. The new version still has the arch-supporting contoured footbed, adjustable upper buckle strap, and clog construction, but it's covered in comfy, genuine shearling — like a teddy coat for your feet. It also has raised platform soles that are low enough to wear on your commute (less than an inch), but high enough to make the shoes feel a bit more elevated (pun intended). And the shoes are naturally moisture-wicking, so the thought of walking around with fur feet all day doesn't need to make you sweat. If you're not quite ready to wear the glorified slippers outside just yet, Birkenstocks also has a milder take on this style: the Arizona Genuine Shearling Lined Slide Sandal. The slide sandal features a subtle shearling lining that shoppers say is "warm, comfortable, and supportive." Reese Witherspoon has been seen wearing them "on repeat," as well as Mandy Moore, Kaia Gerber, and Cindy Crawford. Tip: Pair with socks when the temperatures start to dip. If you decide to take the plunge and shop the Boston Big Buckle Shearling Clog (bravo!) just know that it's selling out fast on Birkenstock's site — and requires member access– but it's thankfully still available in most sizes at Nordstrom. Shop the clogs for under $200 now before they inevitably sell out.
