I Get Compliments Every Time I Wear These $120 Faux Leather Pants
When I found them, it was love at first sight.
There are a lot of reasons NOT to wear leather pants. Because of that infamous Friends scene (you know the one), because leather often carries a hefty price tag, or because you think the fake stuff just isn't as good. But sometimes a woman has to face the facts: Pants like this look really nice.
Recently, in an attempt to inject some excitement into my wardrobe, I've been on the hunt for the perfect leather pair, faux or not. After trying several, there are only three that merit mentioning.
The Winner: I.Am.Gia. Winona 2.0 Pants
My hands-down favorite leather pants are the faux I.Am.Gia. Winona 2.0 Pants that I'm wearing above. When I discovered these, it was one of those love-at-first-sight situations, especially when I saw the $120 price tag. Most decent-looking leather pants easily cost a couple hundred bucks — even the faux leather styles. I couldn't believe it.
Being a cautious shopper (and reminding myself that my body is nowhere near the same shape as the model), I hesitated initially to add the pants to my cart. After a few days passed, I found myself still thinking about the I.Am.Gia. pants and imagining all of the cool ways I could style them, so I decided to pull the trigger and purchase them. Worst case scenario: I could just return them for a full refund.
But when I went back to the website to add them to my cart, I saw those two little words that every shopper fears: sold out. Luckily, the pants were eventually restocked. In addition to Shopbop, the brand started popping up everywhere: Urban Outfittersr, Nordstrom, Revolve. I knew I was on to something good. When I finally secured a pair for myself, I fell even more in love.
These faux leather pants are made with a baggier silhouette, which was perfect for my in-between-sizes figure. The seams amp up the cool factor, adding stark, contrasting white lines down the front. I knew for sure that I had picked a winner the first time I wore them and everyone kept giving me compliments.
Best Actual Leather: LPA Agata Pant
Speaking of compliments, if you don't like attention, you can skip the next part of this article because my first runner up in the "best leather pants" category are these firey LPA ones. They are made to make heads turn, jaws drop, wigs fly — all of that good stuff. They're a tad bit pricey ($229; revolve.com), but the attention-grabbing color and relaxed fit are definitely worth the splurge.
Best Splurge: Anything From Drome
And if you really want to treat yourself, I highly recommend anything from the Italian brand Drome. Leather is its specialty.
Don't hate me, but my faves — this snakeskin print option with slits — have sold out. But I've tried several pairs from the brand that are equally as buttery soft. Each season Drome stocks up on new leather styles that are equally good. So check out some of the pastel shades in the new spring drop.
