Bella Hadid Brought Back Three Controversial Fashion Trends With One Outfit

We consider Bella Hadid to be someone who's always on top of the next big fashion trends. The model was wearing sexy cardigans long before we realized they were even a thing, and embraced tiny sunglasses before that craze took over. So, when she posted a quarantine outfit (pre-hair change) containing three controversial pieces — a vest, a fleece zip-up, and a pair painted pants — we gasped. But, ultimately, we must trust that this pro truly knows what's up.

There's no doubt that Hadid's look is extremely '90s and early '00s. That's kind of her whole aesthetic, TBH — and it's likely our memories from that time that gave us pause (we can't help but envision ourselves in something similar, only for us it's paired with braces and an unflattering middle school 'do). However, Hadid's statement-making pants were created by Juliet Johnstone, and are basically a work of art, while the sweater is cozy enough for relaxing at home. It's also worth noting that Hadid isn't new to trying to make vests happen. She's been pushing the style for a while; maybe it's time we finally followed her lead.

During Paris Fashion Week back in February, the model went full preppy mode, wearing a pinstriped vest-and-pants set with a red tie. She managed to make it playful with the help of a pearl belt and statement earrings.

In January, Hadid was spotted in a padded black option, which was layered over matching sweatsuit and styled with cake stand heels, once again trying several tricky trends at the same time.

She's also made a case for wearing a vest like a tank top. She pulled off this trick in September 2019, when she paired a brown one with pants of a similar color.

With unbuttoned and unzipped vest looks, Hadid is now making us wonder if the sexy vest is the new sexy cardigan.
