Photo: Getty Images Watching today's historical inauguration in the middle of a work day required the unique skill of being able to have one eye on the livestream and the other on Slack. But even the most talented multi-taskers would have been forced to turn their full attention to the proceedings in D.C. at times, given the meaningful and on-point parade of fashion served by Washington's most visible women. From Vice President Kamala Harris's purple Christopher John Rogers ensemble to former first lady Michelle Obama's surfable hair flips to full-on gala looks from Jennifer Lopez and Lady Gaga, you'd be forgiven for staring. But, amid all of the go-big-or-go-home outfits that lent themselves to television, one discrete accessory was the root of outsize chatter. Amanda Gorman, the newly appointed, youngest-ever Poet Laureate of the United States, delivered a chilling and thought-provoking piece wearing a yellow coat, red headband, and earrings no one could take their eyes off of. It's only fitting that, according to an interview Gorman gave to Vogue, the earrings, plus Gorman's ring, were a gift from Oprah Winfrey. The gold hoop earrings encompassing jewel drops are evocative of Maya Angelou's "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings," a moving nod to the writer who also spoke at a presidential inauguration in 1993, and for which Oprah gifted her a Chanel coat and gloves. Gorman's symbolic earrings are by Greek designer Nikos Koulis, whose designs have been seen on Meghan Markle, Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Scarlett Johansson, and many more. The exact pair is sold out, but we've managed to find a handful of gorgeous, near-exact options you can shop right now (and for a lot less than Gorman's actual earrings likely cost).
