Alexa Chung Is the Quintessential French Girl in Her AG Campaign
You guys, it is possible—that eternally elusive, effortlessly chic French girl look (you know, the one we've written endlessly about, which you can read here, here, and here) can be achieved even if you aren't French. It-Brit star Alexa Chung's done it and the proof lies in her très, très chic spring 2017 campaign for AG.
Shot by Karim Sadli of Art + Commerce, the feature follows Chung as she nonchalantly strikes a pose at various locations throughout Paris. There she is overlooking the Seine in an off-the-shoulder denim dress with a polka-dot scarf knotted tight around her neck. And there she is again strolling the streets (perhaps in the Le Marais?) in a striped tee (a French girl staple, btw), styled with a denim jacket and sienna brown pants.
Inspired by La Nouvelle Vague, the collection, essentially, boasts everything you need to get the French girl look, from deconstructed denim with haphazardly chopped hems to '70s-style suede minis.
"With the concept for the collection being 'La Nouvelle Vague,' we looked to the most iconic and influential film during that period, Breathless, for inspiration," says Johnathan Crocker, AG's VP of global communications. "From the character's wardrobe, to the environment and setting of the film, to the effortless Parisian sensibility of that time, Jean Luc’s visual style and innovative approach to film-making, provided our team with endless amounts of inspiration."
