Elizabeth Michaelson Monaghan graduated cum laude from Barnard College with a BA in American Studies, and she has a post-baccalaureate certificate in Periodical Journalism from City University, London. Following a brief stint at a trade paper for the commercial production industry, Elizabeth went back to school to receive her MLS from Queens College, CUNY. She put her library science degree, and its emphasis on the importance of authoritative sources, to use at a health information start-up and then at a nonprofit devoted to skin cancer prevention and education. She later moved to QualityHealth (now Sharecare) as an editor, where she brainstormed ideas, researched topics, and assigned and edited articles.

As a freelancer, Elizabeth is particularly interested in research related to wellbeing, emotions, sense of place, and urban life.
