Celebrity Welcome Back Wednesday: Mandy Moore Is Nominated for a Golden Globe On Welcome Back Wednesday we celebrate the return of a beloved pop culture player who’s been off the radar for a while. Where’d they go? It doesn’t matter! We’re just glad they’re back. By Samantha Simon Updated on December 14, 2016 Pin Share Tweet Email Photo: Jeffrey Mayer/WireImage It’s been 17 years since Mandy Moore burst onto the airwaves with her super-sweet (and insanely catchy) first single, "Candy," quickly establishing herself as a pop star to watch. While continuing to put out new songs—she’s released six studio albums to date—Moore launched an acting career in 2001, landing unforgettable roles in films like The Princess Diaries and A Walk to Remember. After a steady stream of films and TV shows, Moore took a brief break from the spotlight. Now, she's back in front of the camera, and we couldn't be happier. Just this week, Moore scored a Best Supporting Actress Golden Globe nomination for her portrayal of Rebecca Pearson on NBC’s critically-acclaimed drama This Is Us. As her character explores the ups and downs of motherhood and marriage, Moore is given the chance to express an entirely new range of emotions onscreen. And because of the show’s unique timeline—which switches between the Pearson family’s past and present—she gets to rock some impressive old-age makeup when portraying modern-day Rebecca. Her performance in the tearjerking series is a must-watch, and her Globes recognition is well-deserved. Welcome back, Mandy Moore! Was this page helpful? Thanks for your feedback! Tell us why!
