Though you (I) may imagine that David and Victoria Beckham spend their days sipping tea and counting their children in a palatial country home, it turns out they’re actually that couple who makes fun of each other’s ugly shoes on social media.

On Sunday, Victoria shared a photo of her and David donning red poppy pins for Remembrance Sunday, a day of commemoration for British and Commonwealth soldiers. The Spice Girls alum paired her pin with a burnt orange turtleneck sweater with navy sleeves and patchwork bellbottom jeans, while the former soccer star wore a gray blazer, brown corduroy pants, and …. worn-in, oversize work boots?

It was a choice, one that his wife did not let him off the hook for.

Victoria cropped the photo for her Instagram Story, placing David side-by-side with his apparent style muse: Beauty and the Beast’s Gaston.

“Gaston wants his boots back @davidbeckham,” she wrote.

OK, but Gaston is pulling it off!

Anyway, David also had some thoughts about his shoe choice — or, rather, his wife’s decision to forgo the crop tool. “So my wife decided to post before asking me or cropping my last minute shoe option,” he wrote on his own Instagram Story. “Revenge will be sweet.”
