January Jones's Changing Looks
The Abercrombie & Fitch model and budding actress pulled back her butter-blond mane with a pair of bobby pins.
For the Bully premiere, Jones sported rosy lips and cheeks, streaky highlights and long, piecey bangs.
January made for a very convincing redhead at the Oscars. "Her skin tone works with everything," hairstylist Mark Townsend said.
The Mad Men beauty wore a loose, modern version of Betty Draper's stiff '60s-era curls with flirty faux lashes.
"I wanted her to shine and sparkle with some diamonds in her hair," hairstylist Mark Townsend said of her Emmy Awards look. (He created the headband with four strands of Kwiat ice.) Makeup artist Rachel Goodwin complemented the ethereal look with soft berry shades: "Everything was stained and see-through, there were no hard lines anywhere."
For the Globes, January's beauty team drew inspiration from her classic-with-a-twist Versace gown. "It was Kate Moss meets Veronica Lake," said Townsend of her long curls. "There was a polished definition to the waves but it wasn't an exact replica of a '40s hairstyle." Added Goodwin, "I liked the idea of contrasting blue with the tangerine lips, making it kind of old and new."
Jones integrated small braids into her updo.
"People either loved it or hated it," Goodwin recalled of Jones's Met Gala look. "I did one color everywhere-as dramatic as that was, it actually took some restraint." A teased updo highlighted the Blade Runner-esque shadow. "We wanted to go super modern and futuristic," said Townsend. "There was a crazy French twist in the back and we gave it lots of height and texture."
The Emmy nominee conjured up her iconic character for a Hollywood event. "That's her Betty look," says Goodwin of the star's dark lashes and persimmon lip hue. "She came straight from work, so that's her makeup from the show."
"For me, January's look is all about those late '60s eyelashes," said makeup artist Rachel Goodwin, who worked with the star for the Chanel and Charles Finch pre-Oscar party. "Her dress had a bohemian, '60s feel to it so we ran with it." Goodwin layered different lengths of individual lashes on top of a stripe of black liquid liner for an impactful look that still felt soft.
The new mom lined her eyes with a standout blue for an Art of Elysium event.
"It's just my time to do something different and fun," Jones told InStyle.com of her brand new look at the season premiere of Mad Men. But are the strands pink? "We decided that they are rose gold highlights. Class it up a bit," she said of the hue she and her colorist chose. "I'm on hiatus so I can do what I want to it."
At the Emmy Awards, Jones sported red hair and seductive winged eye shadow. "I wanted her whole look to have a dramatic high fashion feel to it," makeup artist Rachel Goodwin told us. "Not passive but of real intentional glamour."
At the Paley Center Benefit in Los Angeles, the actress paired her icy blue shadow with a barely-there pink lip.
Jones paired a bright lip with perfectly polished strands tucked behind her ears while attending the Chloe Los Angeles Fashion Show & Dinner.
The actress really made a statement with wispy bangs and fun blue eyeliner for the show during the 71st Venice Film Festival.
At the Fallout 4 video game launch Jones looked more elegant than ever with pinned back tresses and a classic coral lip .
