The Weeknd Donated $500,000 to Black Lives Matter Causes

He also encouraged other people "with big pockets" to join him.

The Weeknd has donated $500,000 to Black Lives Matter causes in light of George Floyd's death, and has encouraged others to join him.

In an Instagram post on Monday night, he shared screenshots of receipts to Instagram, showing he donated $200,0000 to Black Lives Matter Global Network, $200,000 to Colin Kaepernick's Know Your Rights campaign, and $100,000 to National Bail Out.

"Keep supporting our brothers and sisters out there risking everything to push for actual change for our black lives," he wrote in the caption. "Urging everyone with big pockets to give and give big and if you have less please give what you can even if it's a small amount."

Last week, Floyd, a 46-year-old Black man, died after being handcuffed and forcefully pinned down by police. His death has spurred worldwide protests to demand justice, as well as mass donations to support the Black Lives Matter movement.

You can also donate to help bail out protestors who have been arrested via legal funds and organizations, including Black Visions Collective, The Bail Project, Brooklyn Bail Fund, NAACP Legal Defense Fund, or the ACLU.
