WE Day California was certainly a star-studded affair. Some of our favorite celebs were in attendance for a full day of motivational speeches and moving performances, all with the goal of youth empowerment. Both local and global activism were discussed, as well as ways to combat poverty and bullying, and how to make clean water accessible for all.
What we love most is that tickets to WE Day cannot be bought, but instead, have to be earned by students across the country. "Every year, more than 200,000 students from over 10,000 schools around the globe earn their tickets to WE Day through the yearlong WE Schools program, creating positive impacts in their communities," stated WE co-founder Craig Kielburger. "WE Day California united and celebrated thousands of young leaders who are working passionately for the causes they care about most, creating sustainable change in their own backyards and around the world."
Selena Gomez, Alicia Keys, Demi Lovato, Laverne Cox, and Oprah were just a handful of the slew of stars that were in attendance. Being the fashionista she is, we weren't surprised that the 13 Reasons Why executive producer had three outfit changes during the jam-packed day.
Alicia Keys took to the stage in an embellished blazer and her gorgeous curls. "Today 17,000 students had to earn their way into the Forum to rock with me, @selenagomez @alessiasmusic @djkhaled @iisuperwomanii @emelisande @ddlovato and so many more by taking action on one local and one global cause they are passionate about...Can't tell me the future ain't bright #WeDay @wemovement @weareheremovement," the Grammy Award-winning musician shared on Instagram.
