As filming for the Sex and the City reboot began this week, Sarah Jessica Parker shared a photo of herself alongside Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis on set. "Together again 💜," SJP captioned the sweet photo from the first table read for the new show. In the snapshot, Parker posed in between Davis and Nixon (who is no longer a redhead, and is embracing her natural gray hair) with the New York City skyline in the background. Cynthia posted the same photo to her Instagram feed, writing: "Friendship never goes out of style." Meanwhile, Kristin commented, "Love you forever and ever ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️." While fans were thrilled to see the Parker, Nixon, and Davis reunited after so many years, others couldn't help but point out Kim Cattrall's absence from the get-together. "Without Samantha is not the same," wrote one user, while a second added, "Samantha was the sex in sex and the city." Wishfully thinking, another envisioned Cattrall, who played Samantha Jones, was the one taking the picture. Heidi Klum Wore a Blazer Without a Top to Say She Was Joining the Sex and the City Reboot "Just as in real life, people come into your life, people leave," HBO's Casey Bloys told TVLine about Cattrall not returning to the series. "Friendships fade, and new friendships start. So I think it is all very indicative of the real stages, the actual stages of life … They're trying to tell an honest story about being a woman in her 50s in New York. So it should all feel somewhat organic, and the friends that you have when you're 30, you may not have when you're 50." Despite Samantha saying goodbye, Mr. Big (Chris North), Aidan Shaw (John Corbett), and Steve (David Eigenberg) are all coming back. A senior production source told DailyMail.com that "viewers will definitely see Big, Aidan, and Steve" on the show.
