Ryan Reynolds Couldn't Resist Making a Joke About Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Royal Exit

The opportunity presented itself, and he took it.

When Ryan Reynolds makes a joke, no subject is off limits. His wife, Blake Lively, the couple's three children, and apparently, former royals are all fair game for developing new content. So, when the opportunity arose for him to poke fun at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, he took it and ran.

During an episode on his game show Don't, an outdated question about the Sussexes allowed Reynolds to demonstrate his signature sense of humor with an awkward one-liner about the couple's move across the Atlantic.

"Meghan Markle went from Suits to crowns after she married into the royal family," host Adam Scott began his question to contestants. According to Us Weekly, the camera then panned away in an effort to tweak the pre-taped recording, with Scott adding, "Before she resigned, what was her official title?"

He gave them four multiple choice answers: "Was it A. Countess of Cambridge, B. Duchess of Wessex, C. Duchess of Cornwall, or D. Duchess of Sussex?" That's when Reynolds cut in via voiceover, including a fifth option. "Or E. We taped this show seven months ago," he joked.

Prince Harry Meghan Markle - LEAD

Obviously not loyal followers of royal news, the contestants guessed wrong, choosing "Duchess of Cornwall." That title, of course, belongs to Prince Charles's wife, Camilla.

Despite stepping back from their roles as senior royals, Harry and Meghan are still technically considered the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, however, they both prefer to be called by their first names. Or, simply "M" and "H," when referring to one another.

Since leaving the royal family, the Sussexes have moved to Los Angeles with their one-year-old son, Archie, and are focused on supporting the Black Lives Matter movement and the repercussions of the coronavirus pandemic with their platform.
