Rihanna Wore Open-Toe Heels Outside in the Middle of Winter

There's no doubt that Rihanna is a fashion risk-taker. She's worn a nightgown as a dress (and a robe as a gown), lingerie on the red carpet, bared her pregnant belly in an unbuttoned puffer jacket, and has sported countless other avant-garde looks over the years. Yet, when she stepped out for a dinner at Carbone in New York City with her partner A$AP Rocky, we were surprised by her outfit.

Well, to be fair, just her shoes.

Rihanna's date night look included an unexpected choice in footwear given the winter weather. She walked from her car to the restaurant wearing a pair of open-toe heeled sandals with sparkly ankle straps that wrapped around the hem of her bedazzled jeans. Though, Rih wasn't entirely exposed to the elements, as she covered her growing stomach in a Mets T-shirt that was paired underneath a cozy tan jacket.

The mom-to-be accessorized with nighttime sunglasses, a bold red lip, and crimped hair.

Rihanna, who is expecting her first child with A$AP, explained how fashion is making her feel confident during her pregnancy. "Right now, being pregnant, some days you just feel like, 'Ugh, I just want to lay here on this couch all day.' But when you put on a little face and a little lipstick, you transform," she told People. "You put some clothes on, and it's like, when you look good, you feel good." She added, "I've heard that for a very long time, but it's true. It really can get you up off that couch and make you feel like a bad bitch."
