InStyle Exclusive: Tour Brad Goreski's Super Stylish L.A. Home—and Get a Peek Inside His Shoe Closet!
When stylist Brad Goreski puts together a red carpet look for one of his celebrity clients—who include Demi Moore and Rashida Jones—he abides by one rule: "Every outfit must have a 'crowning glory,' be it the gown, great piece of jewelry or an amazing pair of shoes." It's a styling sensibility that's seen the author and former star of TV's It's a Brad, Brad Worldguide actresses to best-dressed lists, and an approach he translates for his home with equally impressive results. “I like all the rooms to have a pop of color or a great piece of art,” Goreski tells InStyle of the mid-century-style L.A. abode he shares with his partner of 13 years, Emmy-nominated TV writer and producer Gary Janetti. [wrn_tweet title="Notable Quote"]"All the rooms to have a pop of color or a great piece of art." —@MrBradGoreski on his home[/wrn_tweet] In 2012 the couple found the three-bedroom house, in the cosmopolitan neighborhood of Westwood, and were immediately drawn to the cosy atmosphere by the previous owner, who had lived there for 40 years. “My partner and I have always wanted a traditional home that also has a modern feel to it," Goreski says. "Our instincts were so right about this one.” In creating the home’s overall aesthetic, the couple worked together. “I have to give Gary credit for fine-tuning my taste. He introduced me to mid-century furniture, clean surfaces, interesting textures and playing with color,” says Goreski. As the breakout star of The Rachel Zoe Project, Goreski's love of fashion was apparent to anyone who watched him on the show as it is to those who tour his home. A former art history student at the University of Southern California, Goreski’s favorite piece in the home is a print by photographer Roxanne Lowit that captures Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, and Linda Evangelista in a bathtub in Paris. “The ’90s supermodel was one of the things that got me into fashion; I was obsessed.” Inside Goreski’s wardrobe you’ll find “at least 175” pairs of shoes, while the library is packed with more than 100 style and photography tomes, including a signed copy of Tom Ford. A much-loved tan leather armchair by French fashion house Hermès in the formal living room was secured via an eBay auction. “I [don’t usually] win anything!” he says. Take a peek inside Brad Goreski’s serene and chic L.A. home now.
They say good things come in pairs, and when it comes to celebrity dads and their talented kids, it seems this couldn't be more true. From Phil Collins and daughter Lily to Lionel and Nicole Richie, these talented offspring have followed in their father's footsteps to become famous themselves. And although it doesn't hurt to have a dad who is known the world over, we especially love how these sons and daughters have made a name for themselves all on their own. In celebration of Father's Day this Sunday, June 21, we've rounded up our favorite father-daughter and father-son duos. Click through the gallery to check them out. What Do the Stars Love About Designer Tory Burch? Find Out What They Said at Burch's Rodeo Drive Opening
For Tory Burch's grand opening of her West Coast flagship store she enlisted a few of her close friends to help celebrate (and even blogged about it!), including Jessica Alba, Brooklyn Decker, Hailee Steinfeld, Emmy Rossum, Jaime King, and Camila Alves, dressed in Burch's very own designs. With green hydrangeas arrangements placed throughout the 4,700 square-foot space, guests enjoyed Philly cheesesteaks (a homage to Burch's hometown), spring rolls, and sugar-dusted doughnut bits, while they sipped on Champagne and Tory's favorite cocktail—the Southside made with vodka, triple sec, fresh lime juice, and a sprig of lavender. This may be Burch's fourth boutique in Los Angeles and her 13th store in California, but it's her very first Rodeo Drive location. “I think Rodeo is such an iconic location," the designer told InStyle.com. "I never really dreamed of having a store here and when we started this company, we hoped that one day we would,” she added. Not only did she make that dream come true, but she even custom-designed the space with architect Daniel Romualdez and gave the brick and mortar location a personal touch, complete with black and white photos of the Burch family, flea market finds like tables and mirrors the designer scooped up while traveling in Paris and Morocco, and even needlepoint pillows adorned with quotes from Burch's childhood, including "Everything begets thee to me." Within the the three-story boutique, Burch's entire collection of ready-to-wear, handbags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, including her new fragrance, will be available to shop (not to mention the designer already has a loyal Rodeo Drive following). "I love [Tory's] clothing because it works for the every girl," Decker told InStyle.com. "You could be a tomboy or an eclectic, crazy quirky style kind of girl or super preppy, and her clothes kind of speak to everyone." A-listers Zoe Saldana, Rashida Jones, and Kate Mara were among the celebrities who attended the intimate Parker Party cocktail and shopping event hosted by designers Parker NY, James Jeans, Everlane, and Dr. Lancer at the home of Ashlee Margolis in Beverly Hills, where they got to catch up and comb through a few current designer collections from Mara Hoffman to Etnia Barcelona. "Ashlee is our friend and she always represents amazing designers,' Saldana told InStyle.com. "She definitely supports designers and I love that." Mena Suvari, Jaime King, Jessica Paré, Nikki Reed, and Constance Zimmer were also on the guest list, and in between their shopping—where the must-have item was a black Everlane tote bag— we just had to know what their go-to item in their clutch is this season. Runway Looks We Love: Tory Burch
Designer: Tory Burch Notable Guests: Emmy Rossum, Rashida Jones Location: David H. Koch Theater, Lincoln Center What was it like: The theater proved to be the perfect set for Tory Burch's spring/summer 2014 collection, with its dramatic spiral staircase, 40-foot gold leaf ceilings and overall grandeur. And combined with the runway's oceanic blue, the collection's message of "easy glamour of the French Riviera" was loud and clear. Why we love this collection: The inspiration was: "The French Riviera in the late 1960s, Romy Scheider's character in La Piscine and mixed with garden elements." The result? A collection that was like a breath of fresh air: Models walked down in structured silhouettes in a fresh color palette of green, white and coral, which complemented lattice detailing and garden prints seamlessly. Jewels, Queen Anne's lace prints (in organza and dupioni fabrics) and beaded embroidery delivered a generous (and dreamy) dose of glamour. Runway Looks We Love: Thakoon
Designer:Thakoon Location: Dia Art Foundation Notable guest(s):Rashida Jones,Christina Ricci What it was like: The venue had a relaxed, minimalist vibe. Why we love this collection: Thakoon's pretty spring collection was primarily black and white with feminine details, such as laser cutouts, lace appliqué and crystal-bead trim. At times, the accessories—ivory lace boots and pearl-covered shoulder bags—distracted. Slouchy trousers helped to offset the sweetness.
