Princess Sofia and Prince Carl of Sweden Shared Big Family News
2021 is looking up for the Swedish royals.
Princess Sofia and Prince Carl of Sweden just shared big family news: they're expecting their third child together.
"We are happy and expectant and look forward to welcoming our third child, a sibling to Prince Alexander and Prince Gabriel," they shared in an Instagram post. "A new little member of our family."
According to their post, Princess Sofia is doing well, and is due in March or April 2021.
The news comes after Reuters reported last month that Sofia and Carl had tested positive for COVID-19, but were "feeling well under the circumstances."
Earlier this year, Princess Sofia joined frontline efforts against the coronavirus as a medical assistant. The princess helped hospital staff with non-medical related tasks, and a spokesperson for the hospital explained at the time that Sofia and her fellow volunteers will not be working directly with patients, and will instead be supporting doctors and nurses by doing tasks such as disinfecting equipment, doing shifts in the kitchen, and cleaning.
Princess Sofia continued to work at the hospital until at least August as the pandemic stretched on.
