Prince William Is "Very Upset" By Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Response To the Queen

Prince William is reportedly "very upset" by his brother's response to the queen, following Buckingham Palace's announcement last week.

The Palace released a statement on Friday that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle would not return as working royals, which comes a year after the Sussexes first announced they were stepping down from their roles. Last week's statement also noted that they would be unable to continue being royally involved with their U.K. charities.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle responded to the Palace's statement saying "As evidenced by their work over the past year, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex remain committed to their duty and service to the U.K. and around the world, and have offered their continued support to the organisations they have represented regardless of official role. We can all live a life of service. Service is universal."

According to The Sunday Times, Prince William is "really sad and genuinely shocked" by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's official step down from their royal roles. Sources close to the Duke of Cambridge said he believes that Prince Harry and Markle's response to the queen was "insulting and disrespectful." Another source told The Sunday Times that "You don't answer the Queen back — it's just not done."

While Prince William is "very upset by what has happened," he plans to mend his relationship with his brother. "It's still raw," another source and friend of William's told The Sunday Times. "He's very upset by what has happened, though absolutely intent that he and Harry's relationship will heal in time."
