Prince Harry Understood the Assignment at the Rodeo

He's really embracing American culture.

After getting spotted at the Super Bowl with his cousin Princess Eugenie, Prince Harry took in another major American pastime, the rodeo. People reports that he attended the Stockyards Championship Rodeo in Fort Worth, Texas, last weekend, enjoying bull riding events without his wife, Meghan Markle, or his kiddos, Archie and Lilibet. Page Six published photos that were shared to social media by other attendees, which showed Harry in a very Texas cowboy hat and a casual button-up shirt with the sleeves rolled up. He looked pretty comfortable, especially since it's safe to assume that the spectacle of bucking broncos and bulls isn't as common as say, a soccer match (the other football, if you're getting technical) or rugby rout across the pond.

"Where was Prince Harry Saturday night? Oooooh, just hanging out behind the bucking chutes at the Stockyards Championship Rodeo!! Loooove it!! Thank you for the visit!!" Championship Rodeo secretary Cindy Reid wrote in a now-deleted Instagram post on Monday.

Former bull rider Cory Melton's company, Melton Bull Co, also shared (and subsequently deleted) the same photo, writing, "Prince Harry hanging out at the rodeo this week ... We get a lot of rodeo royalty but this is the first prince I've seen. Said he was going to enter the bull riding but the airline lost his rigging bag…."

Royal expert Omid Scobie also shared the image on Twitter, writing, "Living his best American life🇺🇸 Prince Harry was in Fort Worth, Texas this weekend and spent Saturday at the historic @cowtowncoliseum for the famous @StockyardsRodeo. The duke was spotted by locals enjoying some good ol' Southern hospitality and a VIP tour of the venue.."

While having Meghan in attendance would have been amazing for royal-watchers everywhere, having Harry attending events with his cousin isn't entirely surprising. Scobie and Carolyn Durand, authors of Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Making of a Modern Royal Family, explained that the two have always been very close.

"Eugenie had always been more than just a cousin to Harry. They were also the closest of friends," Scobie and Durand wrote. "Out of all the queen's grandchildren, Harry and Eugenie have one of the most natural connections. Like Harry, Eugenie is loyal, honest, and great fun. The two had many nights out together in London."
