Prince Harry and Orlando Bloom Watch Out for Paparazzi for Each Other
Bros Orlando Bloom and Prince Harry are forming a new kind of neighborhood watch. According to People, during an appearance on Dax Shepard's podcast, Armchair Expert, Harry explained that since he's moved to Montecito, California, he and his new neighbor — former elf/swashbuckler and fellow new dad Orlando Bloom — have come together as a rogue paparazzi alert team. When one of them sees an errant photographer in the neighborhood, they give the other a heads up.
It may seem like a strange situation, but considering there's a royal family and a Hollywood celebrity and his pop star fiancé living in the same area, it's really just common sense.
"Just two days ago, Orlando Bloom sent me a message — because he's just down the road and we sort of keep in contact because of the paparazzi — he sent me a photograph which his security got of this long-haired guy with a beanie on, with his ear pods in, with his massive camera lying in the back of his 4x4 truck," Harry told Shepard. "A woman driving who did the peace sign sitting there as a distraction, and he is laid down in the back of this truck taking photographs of them out with their kid and whoever else is in that area. How is that normal, how is that acceptable?"
Harry noted that living in California has made dealing with the paparazzi easier for him and his wife, Meghan Markle, than their time back in the U.K., even with the photographers on his block.
"Here, I can actually lift my head and I feel different. My shoulders have dropped, so has hers," he added. "You walk around feeling a little bit more free. I get to take Archie on the back of my bicycle. I never had the chance to do that."
Harry and Bloom join the ranks of fellow star Sophie Turner, who also spoke out about how intrusive it was to have photographers try to sneak photos of her daughter.
"She is my daughter. She did not ask for this life, to be photographed," she said in an Instagram Live broadcast.
