Prince George Adorably Twinned With His Dad at a Soccer Game
While it's not unusual for kids to head to soccer practice after school, Prince George's after-school footy match happened to be the UEFA Euro 2020 Round of 16 match between England and Germany — one of the most highly anticipated matches of the entire tournament. And for the occasion, George almost twinned with his dad, Prince William, while his mom wore a bright red blazer.
Prince William and George both wore matching navy blue blazers and striped ties. George's featured wider stripes than his dad's and he opted for a blue shirt, not exactly twinning with his father's white one. Kate wore a white top under her double-breasted blazer and paired the bold jacket with black pants.
People reports that the royals headed to the match at Wembley Stadium after fetching George from school. Other notable names in attendance included soccer legend David Beckham, who sat with his son Romeo behind the royals, and Ed Sheeran, who serenaded the England team during training, according to the ESPN broadcast of the match. Before kickoff, onlookers said that George was singing along to the national anthem.
George hasn't been shy about his allegiance to his country's best footballers. Two years ago, Kate shared a set of images for little George's birthday and he was proudly wearing the England kit with its signature three lion crest.
William has a special connection to the sport, too. He happens to be the President of the Football Association, the governing body of the sport in England, and has tweeted in support of the England national team in the past.
"Football is powerful in so many ways," he wrote on Instagram. "Not only in its ability to bring people together like yesterday's and today's events but also how it uses its platform to continue the conversation on mental health."
