On Sunday, the former First Lady turned 57 years old, and to commemorate the occasion, Barack took to Instagram, publicly declaring his love for his wife of almost three decades. "Happy birthday to my love, my partner, and my best friend. Every moment with you is a blessing. Love you, Miche," he wrote alongside a throwback photo of Michelle in what appears to be a tropical setting. In the snap, Michelle (affectionately known as Miche), pairs a yellow tank top with chunky gold hoops, and her hair is stylishly slicked back. On Barack's birthday over the summer, Michelle also shared an old photo, but of the couple with their daughters, Sasha and Malia. "Happy birthday to my favorite guy. Here's to all the good days, blue skies, and new adventures to come," she captioned her post, adding a kissing emoji. Back in November, Barack discussed the effect his presidency had on his marriage, and how he and Michelle were able to get back to the "deep love" they share. "It was like a big exhale right after we left office," Obama told People in an interview for his new memoir, A Promised Land. Barack Obama Said Malia's Boyfriend Quarantined With Them "It took some time to talk about how she had felt," he said. "Once [the presidency] was done, there was possibility of her opening up … but more importantly just her being able to let out a breath and relax. You know the old adage, 'if mom's happy, everybody's happy'? It very much applies in our household." Obama added that Michelle, "has been more relaxed and more joyful since we left office," which enabled them "to just enjoy the deep love that comes with a marriage this long. But also to be friends again."
